Poem of the Day: “All In” by Sarah Hebert

Songs of Eretz Poetry Review is pleased to present “All In” by Sarah Hebert, a music teacher.

All In

Sarah Hebert

Strange what arises from a thought,

Something small and rarely spoken.

Seemingly lost, yet solely sought,

A lust still growing and never broken.

A tempting proposal made painfully clear,

To take said risk, or forever be sable.

Which path to travel for someone dear,

Like dice thrown costly upon a table.

To choose a choice can change ones chance,

But decisions can wither when mixed with age.

They must be made from more than a glance,

While adding in luck for the perfect wage.

Poet's Notes:  I wrote "All In" when I was around sixteen years old, an exercise that helped me identify the origins of the emotions and feelings that I was experiencing at the time.

Editor’s Note:  I like the tight quatrains here as well as the use of alliteration.  There is a nice dose of wisdom here, too.
