Poem of the Day: Midsummer's Triolet by Lauren McBride, Poet of the Week

Midsummer's Triolet
Lauren McBride

On midsummer's night
the sun lingers in the sky.
Bonfires burn bright
on midsummer's night.

We dance by the light--
leap the flames, or try
on midsummer's night.
The sun lingers in the sky.

Poet's Notes:  This poem was written for the Midsummer's Eve issue of Emerald Tales, a publication that unfortunately closed shortly after it launched. After researching some traditions, I decided to write a triolet, my first.

Editor's Note:  This one reminds me a little of Midsummer Night's Dream, one of my favorite plays.  A biography of the poet may be found here:  http://www.eretzsongs.blogspot.com/2015/07/poet-of-week-lauren-mcbride.html.
